Australian Indigenous communities are suffering an acute accommodation shortage. We need quality and affordable solutions, especially in remote and rural areas. Skilled labour is also a real problem – leading to inflated building mark ups.

Although based in NSW, WICEEDO are fully aware of the barriers of providing affordable and sustainable housing in remote communities. The greater cost for labour, materials and longer timeframes for completing construction has lead to a great void in the delivery of housing in remote communities. Associated with this are the myriad of social and health issues attributed to overcrowding.

The void of affordable housing is also true for the general population of Australia, the shortage of affordable land, higher cost of building and renting with higher interest rates makes it very difficult for the average Australian to enter the housing market.

In response to these pressures, WICEEDO have developed a housing system model which incorporates the following elements:

Embodying the principle of collective delivery and ‘sweat equity’
– tenant appreciation, enhanced ownership and respect of houses;
Local community employment opportunities;
Local community education & training opportunities;
Significant savings for commonwealth & state governments
Indigenous housing budgets; and a
Dramatic reduction in National Indigenous housing targets.

With this in mind, WICEEDO have positioned them-selves to provide community housing that will save almost 30% of the cost of building both residential and commercial buildings in remote Indigenous communities, whilst reducing the time frame for construction by 50%. WICEEDO Directors have recently visited our joint venture partners and their associates who are experts in the construction industry, with a view of supplying pre fabricated housing systems to Indigenous Australian communities in Australia.

The WICEEDO housing model endeavours to provide Indigenous construction teams, Indigenous communities and Government, with the capacity and ability to provide quality, affordable, sustainable housing systems to Indigenous communities across Australia in a more time efficient and cost effective manner.

Technology

Our partners utilise only the best technology in the production of our buildings, using both steel and timber frames for construction. They utilise CAD (Computer Aided Design), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) and Laser Projection through the building process. Quality of production is Guaranteed. All Timber components are designed and engineered specifically by MiTek 20/20. MiTek 20/20 is the most advanced timber engineered embedded interface system globally. The software works in three modules roof truss, floor truss and wall panel. The designer is able to evaluate the situation of every piece of the components in the structure through a 3D presentation.

Steel specific software is also used for steel constructions ensuring laser precision quality.

Housing and construction products can be adapted to any design requirements, from container housing, remote community housing, to resort style residential accomodation through to high rise and commercial construction. The modual capabilities of the housing products offers you the client, with endless capabilities for future extensions and maintenance of your property. The walls of the steel framed products are not weight bearing allowing freedom to move and manipulate.

The walls and roof are fully insulated. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter!

The buildings include both commercial and residential with a large range of options. They are engineered approved with 70% of construction completed in China to Australian building codes and standards. The building is then transported in large containers and finished off on site. No matter where you are, we will transport it to you!

Our associates have direct contact with manufacturers in all areas of the residential and commercial construction industry including external and internal residential and commercial fittings and appliances. Therefore, we have the capacity to also offer significant cost savings not only in the building stage, but also in associated project requirements.

We are confident that our pricing structure and our supply chain direct from the manufacturers will ensure considerable savings to your organisation or company. WICEEDO also have a number of collaborative projects with a range of builders including an Aboriginal building company in NSW, giving us access to a large range of trades, expertise and staff.

There is also the option to have product specific construction trainers to train your staff on site with various techniques to ensure an efficient and effective build.

Ordering products from China and getting what you ordered can be a complex process. We at WICEEDO fully appreciate the importance of quality and precision. To ensure that the products delivered to your construction site are of the highest standards, both in quality and precision we have engaged an Australian Chinese joint venture company to oversee the Quality Assurance of your product. They maintain an ongoing presence at the factories, with staff having long term experience in the construction and manufacturing industries. All building materials and fittings are crossed checked by staff before sending to Australia.
